Send an email in SendGrid when a payment lands in Square

When a payment lands in Square, send an email in SendGrid.

Every step, in order

When it happens in the first app, the step runs in the second, with the client’s own account.

A payment lands: A payment completed at the account’s default location (in person, online or on an invoice), checked every 5 minutes; once per payment. The token needs PAYMENTS_READ.
Send an email: Plain-text email from a verified sender.

SendGrid: From address: For example hello@northside.example
Who it goes to (SendGrid): The address that gets it: yours, or the client’s team.

Each is the client’s own, stored encrypted and never copied between clients. Until one is added the client’s checklist shows it, and nothing runs.

Square
developer.squareup.com → the client’s application (their own account) → Credentials → Production access token. A personal access token for the client’s own account needs no Square review.
SendGrid → Settings → API Keys → Create API Key with Mail Send access; for the triggers, also the Event Webhook settings permission (user.webhooks.event.settings.read and user.webhooks.event.settings.update), or Full Access. The From address must be a verified sender.

It lands switched off. The client’s checklist holds exactly this:

Connect the client’s Square, for “A payment lands”
Connect the client’s SendGrid, for “Send an email”
Fill in SendGrid: From address (For example hello@northside.example)
Fill in Who it goes to (SendGrid) (The address that gets it: yours, or the client’s team)
