Newsletter

Beta

A newsletter for every client, written once and sent from their blog.

Each client gets a newsletter on their blog that keeps the blog’s existing subscribers. Write an issue once, then publish it on the web, send it by email, or both.

Referrals and sponsors help it grow, and the client sees its reach in their portal.

Thrum opens soon. Sign up now and you’ll be among the first in.

Issues

Publish, send, or both, with time to take it back.

Send now waits a minute, and Undo in that time stops both the page and the email. After sending, a link that points the wrong way can still be fixed.

When the client approves an issue, its page and its email are approved together.

Referrals and sponsors

Readers bring readers, and sponsors see what they got.

Every subscriber gets a referral link, and milestones reward them with a message or a download. A referral counts only once the new reader confirms.

A Sponsor block counts clicks per sponsor, and the sponsor gets a signed, read-only report link.

Paid tiers

Mark an article for paid subscribers and readers see a free preview, then the tiers that include it with their prices. Continue free sits beside them as an equal choice.

Subscribing goes through Stripe Checkout on the client’s own account and brings the reader back to the article, signed in. Search engines and the RSS feed get the same preview.

Reports show recurring revenue by tier, free to paid, trials converted, cancellations and failing payments, and the upgrades each issue brought.

Moving in

Bring the list from Substack, beehiiv or Ghost.

Subscribers, posts and redirects come across from an export file, checked before anything is written. Change your mind within a week and the import can be undone.

Readers

Subscribe in one step, sign in without a password.

The subscribe page lives on the client’s blog, and a sign-up form can go on any site. Readers sign in with an emailed link or code and manage their subscription on an Account page.

Unsubscribing from an issue leaves that newsletter only.

Questions about the newsletter

Does my client see who subscribed?

They see their subscribers and each issue’s reach in their portal, as counts, never names.

What about a list in Mailchimp?

Mailchimp contacts come in through Email, which the newsletter sends with.

Does it keep the blog’s existing subscribers?

Yes. The newsletter lives on the client’s blog and keeps everyone already subscribed to it.

Can my client charge for the newsletter?

Yes, in beta. Paid tiers bill monthly or yearly through the client’s own Stripe account, and paid articles show a free preview. Until the client takes live payments, the plans open only through a test link.

What does Beta mean?

Beta means the module is built and tested, and hasn’t yet run against the live service it depends on, such as Stripe or Twilio. The tag comes off once it has.
