Google SheetsAirtable

Create a record in Airtable when a row is changed in Google Sheets

When a row is changed in Google Sheets, create a record in Airtable.

Start the 14-day trial, then find it under Templates → Library. It installs into the client you choose, switched off, with its checklist.

A row is changed in Google Sheets, within 15 minutes

Every step, in order

When it happens in the first app, the step runs in the second, with the client’s own account.

A row is changed
A row whose cells changed, or a new one, found by its ID column, checked every 15 minutes. The first check notes what is there. The first 5,000 rows are watched.
Create a record
Add one row to a table. Field names must match the table’s columns.

What each client fills in

Airtable: Base ID
From the base’s URL: airtable.com/appXXXX/…
Airtable: Table
For example Leads
Google Sheets: Spreadsheet ID
For example from the URL: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/<this>/edit
Google Sheets: Sheet (tab)
For example Sheet1

The accounts it needs

Each is the client’s own, stored encrypted and never copied between clients. Until one is added the client’s checklist shows it, and nothing runs.

  • Google Sheets

In your own Google Cloud project: enable the Google Sheets API, then IAM & Admin → Service accounts → Create → Keys → Add key → JSON, and paste the file here. Then share each client sheet with the service account’s email (…@….iam.gserviceaccount.com) as an Editor. The account is yours; no Google review is needed.

  • Airtable

airtable.com/create/tokens → Create token → scopes data.records:write and data.records:read (lookups and the triggers) → add the client’s base → copy the token.

After you install it

It lands switched off. The client’s checklist holds exactly this:

  1. Connect the client’s Google Sheets, for “A row is changed”
  2. Connect the client’s Airtable, for “Create a record”
  3. Fill in Google Sheets: Spreadsheet ID (For example from the URL: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/<this>/edit)
  4. Fill in Google Sheets: Sheet (tab) (For example Sheet1)
  5. Fill in Airtable: Base ID (From the base’s URL: airtable.com/appXXXX/…)
  6. Fill in Airtable: Table (For example Leads)
  7. Match Airtable’s fields to the client’s own: Column A, Column B, Column C, Column D
