Send an email in SendGrid when a new contact is added in HubSpot

When a new contact is added in HubSpot, send an email in SendGrid.

Start the 14-day trial, then find it under Templates → Library. It installs into the client you choose, switched off, with its checklist.

UsesBeta

Every step, in order

When it happens in the first app, the step runs in the second, with the client’s own account.

A new contact is added
A contact created in HubSpot (a form, an import, by hand), checked every 5 minutes. The token needs crm.objects.contacts.read.
Send an email
Plain-text email from a verified sender.

  2. App stepSend an email

What each client fills in

SendGrid: From address
For example hello@northside.example

The accounts it needs

Each is the client’s own, stored encrypted and never copied between clients. Until one is added the client’s checklist shows it, and nothing runs.

  • In the client’s HubSpot: Settings → Integrations → Private Apps (Legacy apps) → Create → scopes crm.objects.contacts.write, and for the triggers crm.objects.contacts.read, crm.objects.deals.read and tickets → copy the access token. A private app needs no HubSpot review.

  • SendGrid → Settings → API Keys → Create API Key with Mail Send access; for the triggers, also the Event Webhook settings permission (user.webhooks.event.settings.read and user.webhooks.event.settings.update), or Full Access. The From address must be a verified sender.

After you install it

It lands switched off. The client’s checklist holds exactly this:

  1. Connect the client’s HubSpot, for “A new contact is added”
  2. Connect the client’s SendGrid, for “Send an email”
  3. Fill in SendGrid: From address (For example hello@northside.example)

Thrum is cooking.

Get early access and you’ll be among the first in. Early members get a launch perk.
