Airtable

Create a record in Airtable when a task is completed in Asana

When a task is completed in Asana, create a record in Airtable.

Start the 14-day trial, then find it under Templates → Library. It installs into the client you choose, switched off, with its checklist.

UsesBeta

Every step, in order

When it happens in the first app, the step runs in the second, with the client’s own account.

A task is completed
A task in a project marked complete, checked every 5 minutes; once per task.
Create a record
Add one row to a table. Field names must match the table’s columns.

  2. App stepCreate a record

What each client fills in

Airtable: Base ID
From the base’s URL: airtable.com/appXXXX/…
Airtable: Table
For example Leads
Asana: Project ID
For example the number after /project/ in the link

The accounts it needs

Each is the client’s own, stored encrypted and never copied between clients. Until one is added the client’s checklist shows it, and nothing runs.

  • app.asana.com/0/my-apps → Create new token (signed in to the client’s Asana).

  • Airtable

airtable.com/create/tokens → Create token → scopes data.records:write and data.records:read (lookups and the triggers) → add the client’s base → copy the token.

After you install it

It lands switched off. The client’s checklist holds exactly this:

  1. Connect the client’s Asana, for “A task is completed”
  2. Connect the client’s Airtable, for “Create a record”
  3. Fill in Asana: Project ID (For example the number after /project/ in the link)
  4. Fill in Airtable: Base ID (From the base’s URL: airtable.com/appXXXX/…)
  5. Fill in Airtable: Table (For example Leads)
  6. Match Airtable’s fields to the client’s own: Task, Description, Due on, Section
