Add a row in Google Sheets when a conversation is closed (archived) in Front

When a conversation is closed (archived) in Front, add a row in Google Sheets.

Start the 14-day trial, then find it under Templates → Library. It installs into the client you choose, switched off, with its checklist.

A conversation is closed (archived) in Front, within 5 minutes

Every step, in order

When it happens in the first app, the step runs in the second, with the client’s own account.

A conversation is closed (archived)
A conversation archived, checked every 5 minutes.
Add a row
Add a row at the bottom of a sheet, one value per column, left to right.

What each client fills in

Google Sheets: Spreadsheet ID
For example from the URL: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/<this>/edit
Google Sheets: Sheet (tab)
For example Sheet1

The accounts it needs

Each is the client’s own, stored encrypted and never copied between clients. Until one is added the client’s checklist shows it, and nothing runs.

  • Front

In the client’s Front: Settings → Developers → API tokens → Create API token with the Shared resources namespace and the Read and Write permissions (Write for the contact step, Read for the triggers, which list events).

  • Google Sheets

In your own Google Cloud project: enable the Google Sheets API, then IAM & Admin → Service accounts → Create → Keys → Add key → JSON, and paste the file here. Then share each client sheet with the service account’s email (…@….iam.gserviceaccount.com) as an Editor. The account is yours; no Google review is needed.

After you install it

It lands switched off. The client’s checklist holds exactly this:

  1. Connect the client’s Front, for “A conversation is closed (archived)”
  2. Connect the client’s Google Sheets, for “Add a row”
  3. Fill in Google Sheets: Spreadsheet ID (For example from the URL: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/<this>/edit)
  4. Fill in Google Sheets: Sheet (tab) (For example Sheet1)
  5. Check the order of Google Sheets’s values, column by column against the client’s columns
