Google Sheets

Add a row in Google Sheets when a new order comes in to Shopify

When a new order comes in to Shopify, add a row in Google Sheets.

Start the 14-day trial, then find it under Templates → Library. It installs into the client you choose, switched off, with its checklist.

A new order comes in to Shopify, within 5 minutes

Every step, in order

When it happens in the first app, the step runs in the second, with the client’s own account.

A new order comes in
A new order in the store, checked every 5 minutes. The app needs the read_orders scope.
Add a row
Add a row at the bottom of a sheet, one value per column, left to right.

What each client fills in

Google Sheets: Spreadsheet ID
For example from the URL: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/<this>/edit
Google Sheets: Sheet (tab)
For example Sheet1

The accounts it needs

Each is the client’s own, stored encrypted and never copied between clients. Until one is added the client’s checklist shows it, and nothing runs.

  • Only for a store that already has an admin-created custom app. In the client’s Shopify admin: Apps → Develop apps → the app: its Admin API scopes must include write_customers and read_orders; the token is under API credentials (shown once when it is made; if it is no longer shown, generate a new one).

  • Google Sheets

In your own Google Cloud project: enable the Google Sheets API, then IAM & Admin → Service accounts → Create → Keys → Add key → JSON, and paste the file here. Then share each client sheet with the service account’s email (…@….iam.gserviceaccount.com) as an Editor. The account is yours; no Google review is needed.

After you install it

It lands switched off. The client’s checklist holds exactly this:

  1. Connect the client’s Shopify, for “A new order comes in”
  2. Connect the client’s Google Sheets, for “Add a row”
  3. Fill in Google Sheets: Spreadsheet ID (For example from the URL: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/<this>/edit)
  4. Fill in Google Sheets: Sheet (tab) (For example Sheet1)
  5. Check the order of Google Sheets’s values, column by column against the client’s columns
