Google Sheets

Add a row in Google Sheets when an email bounces in Postmark

When an email bounces in Postmark, add a row in Google Sheets.

Start the 14-day trial, then find it under Templates → Library. It installs into the client you choose, switched off, with its checklist.

An email bounces in Postmark, within seconds

Every step, in order

When it happens in the first app, the step runs in the second, with the client’s own account.

An email bounces
An email from the server bounced (a bad address, a full inbox), within seconds.
Add a row
Add a row at the bottom of a sheet, one value per column, left to right.

What each client fills in

Google Sheets: Spreadsheet ID
For example from the URL: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/<this>/edit
Google Sheets: Sheet (tab)
For example Sheet1
Postmark: Message stream
The stream the emails go out on: “outbound” unless the server has others.

The accounts it needs

Each is the client’s own, stored encrypted and never copied between clients. Until one is added the client’s checklist shows it, and nothing runs.

  • Postmark → the client’s server → API Tokens → copy the Server API token. The From address must be a confirmed sender signature or on a verified domain.

  • Google Sheets

In your own Google Cloud project: enable the Google Sheets API, then IAM & Admin → Service accounts → Create → Keys → Add key → JSON, and paste the file here. Then share each client sheet with the service account’s email (…@….iam.gserviceaccount.com) as an Editor. The account is yours; no Google review is needed.

After you install it

It lands switched off. The client’s checklist holds exactly this:

  1. Connect the client’s Postmark, for “An email bounces”
  2. Connect the client’s Google Sheets, for “Add a row”
  3. Fill in Postmark: Message stream (The stream the emails go out on: “outbound” unless the server has others)
  4. Fill in Google Sheets: Spreadsheet ID (For example from the URL: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/<this>/edit)
  5. Fill in Google Sheets: Sheet (tab) (For example Sheet1)
  6. Check the order of Google Sheets’s values, column by column against the client’s columns
