Google Sheets

Add a row in Google Sheets when a row is changed in Notion

When a row is changed in Notion, add a row in Google Sheets.

Start the 14-day trial, then find it under Templates → Library. It installs into the client you choose, switched off, with its checklist.

A row is changed in Notion, within 15 minutes

Every step, in order

When it happens in the first app, the step runs in the second, with the client’s own account.

A row is changed
A page in a database edited, checked every 15 minutes. Notion rounds edit times to the minute: two edits in one minute are one run.
Add a row
Add a row at the bottom of a sheet, one value per column, left to right.

What each client fills in

Google Sheets: Spreadsheet ID
For example from the URL: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/<this>/edit
Google Sheets: Sheet (tab)
For example Sheet1
Notion: Data source ID
For example the database’s settings → Manage data sources → Copy data source ID

The accounts it needs

Each is the client’s own, stored encrypted and never copied between clients. Until one is added the client’s checklist shows it, and nothing runs.

  • notion.so/profile/integrations → New integration (Internal) in the client’s workspace → Capabilities: Read content, Insert content and Update content (the row update needs the last) → copy the secret. Then open the database → ••• → Connections → add the integration.

  • Google Sheets

In your own Google Cloud project: enable the Google Sheets API, then IAM & Admin → Service accounts → Create → Keys → Add key → JSON, and paste the file here. Then share each client sheet with the service account’s email (…@….iam.gserviceaccount.com) as an Editor. The account is yours; no Google review is needed.

After you install it

It lands switched off. The client’s checklist holds exactly this:

  1. Connect the client’s Notion, for “A row is changed”
  2. Connect the client’s Google Sheets, for “Add a row”
  3. Fill in Notion: Data source ID (For example the database’s settings → Manage data sources → Copy data source ID)
  4. Fill in Google Sheets: Spreadsheet ID (For example from the URL: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/<this>/edit)
  5. Fill in Google Sheets: Sheet (tab) (For example Sheet1)
  6. Check the order of Google Sheets’s values, column by column against the client’s columns
