Add a row in Google Sheets when an item’s status changes in monday.com

What each client fills in

Google Sheets: Spreadsheet ID
For example from the URL: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/<this>/edit
Google Sheets: Sheet (tab)
For example Sheet1
monday.com: Board ID
For example the number in the board’s URL
monday.com: Status column ID
The column’s ID: its menu → Column ID (“status” for the first status column).

The accounts it needs

Each is the client’s own, stored encrypted and never copied between clients. Until one is added the client’s checklist shows it, and nothing runs.

  • In the client’s monday.com: avatar → Developers → My access tokens → Show → copy.

  • Google Sheets

In your own Google Cloud project: enable the Google Sheets API, then IAM & Admin → Service accounts → Create → Keys → Add key → JSON, and paste the file here. Then share each client sheet with the service account’s email (…@….iam.gserviceaccount.com) as an Editor. The account is yours; no Google review is needed.

After you install it

It lands switched off. The client’s checklist holds exactly this:

  1. Connect the client’s monday.com, for “An item’s status changes”
  2. Connect the client’s Google Sheets, for “Add a row”
  3. Fill in monday.com: Board ID (For example the number in the board’s URL)
  4. Fill in monday.com: Status column ID (The column’s ID: its menu → Column ID (“status” for the first status column))
  5. Fill in Google Sheets: Spreadsheet ID (For example from the URL: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/<this>/edit)
  6. Fill in Google Sheets: Sheet (tab) (For example Sheet1)
  7. Check the order of Google Sheets’s values, column by column against the client’s columns

Thrum is cooking.
